As per the latest (2016) HIES Data, the national poverty headcount index has gone down from 6.7% (2012/13) to 4.1% (2016). But inequality remains high at 0.45 measured using the household income and has only decreased by 0.03 points. CEPA is conducting a series of interviews with researchers, policy makers, social activists and people from different socio economic settings to understand their perceptions on poverty and inequality in Sri Lanka. In this second segment CEPA researchers and academics share their views on the current status of poverty and inequality in Sri Lanka.
