Whose Right of Way

Whose Right of Way, a photo essay for The Picture Press by CEPA, features photographs taken over 5 years during the monitoring of the resettlement process for the Southern Transport Development Project (STDP), now popularly known as the Southern expressway.
The data and research for the narratives for the photoessay were drawn from the study Right of Way: a journey of resettlement, by Sharni Jayawardene, which is based on the documentation and analysis carried out by the CEPA team who worked as the external independent monitors of the resettlement process. The book is available in Sinhala, Tamil and English. A short synopsis documentary of the project can be viewed here.
